On tuesday night I continued to do the ex-pat thing and went to see Paddy Casey in The Borderline, Central London. Really great venue. Sort of half the size of Whelens, maybe slightly smaller. No upstairs. Actually its prob same size as the UCD student bar when they used too split it in half for gigs. Alot nicer though. Some great people played their London debut shows there - The Pixies, The Verve, Oasis, Blur, Jeff Buckley, to name but a few of the more recent. Paddy played a great show. Sold out with maybe 200 in the crowd, maybe less actually. Good acoustic show. His older stuff stands out better live but the new material is quite good. Unbelievable the success he's having in Ireland - 3 sell out shows at the Olympia. Judging by the reception he got in London, with mostly english, canadians, and americans in the audience (surprisingly there was very few Irish-if any), he may yet take the Damien Rice route to success.

Last night went down to watch Villa v Fulham in Loftus road, the ground Fulham currently share with QPR. Fantastic game, it had everything - goals (2-1 Villa), crowd trouble( Fulham fuckers throwing bottles at the ref), a sending off( Fulham), a horrific challenge(dirty fulham head) and, most importantly, a great Villa performance capped by a well deserved victory. Of course we were in the away end amongst a load of really vocal and passionate Villa supporters which made for great atmosphere and great fun. Next up is those Blue nosed bastards in the local derby on sunday week. Shouldn't be a prob judging by the way we're playing. Europe here we come. Come on the villa!!!!
